About EMDR Certification Consultations
Welcome to Your Certification Process
I am a EMDRIA Approved Consultant, which means I have the capacity to sign-off all 20 hrs of the required consultation hours and provide a consultant letter of recommendation required by EMDRIA. It is important to note that if you would like a letter recommendation, I require at least 10 or more individual consultation hrs & at least 2 video recordings in order to assess your readiness for certification.
The certification consultation hours are focused on demonstrating a good enough level of proficiency and fidelity to the standard EMDR therapy. Consultations always respect a client’s confidentiality.

For those seeking a recommendation letter, you can expect a similar structure:
consult 1: Ability to explain the EMDR therapy process to the client & sensitivity to different client populations
consult 2: Gather appropriate client history & comprehensive treatment plan
consult 3: Adequately assess the client for appropriateness for EMDR therapy & utilization of safe space resource
consult 4: Adequately screen the client for dissociation
consult 5: Utilize available resources for client support (external and internal-RDI) to adequately prepare the client for EMDR therapy
consult 6: Understanding the mechanics of EMDR
consult 7: Ability to ‘stay out of the way’ while processing with the client
consult 8: Effectiveness with the ‘looping’ and ‘stuck processing & utilization of cognitive interweaves
consult 9: Understanding of when to use standard EMDR therapy versus when modifications are necessary in order to safely and effectively treat the client
consult 10: Appropriate closure for incomplete sessions & fidelity to standard protocol
consult 11+: review of any of the prior consultation material and/or additional video requirements
